TransitionCinema invites you to the screening of the film “Setting the Bar: A Craft Chocolate Origin Story” followed by a Q&A session with experts on the topic including “The Chocolate Shop.”

NOTE: The event will take place at Concordia.

SYNOPSIS

Setting the Bar follows the world’s finest artisan chocolate makers as they journey through the deep jungles of the Peruvian Amazon in search of rare native cacao species that have never been used in chocolate production.

Share the passion and excitement of chocolate makers as they travel into the unknown, find purpose in the stories of indigenous cocoa farmers, and see firsthand the widespread effects of deforestation, drug trafficking and large farms on the Amazon way of life.

They help confront the myriad issues facing the artisan chocolate industry today and hear from people on all sides of the industry.

Setting the Bar unveils a new era of sustainable chocolate trade: one that protects livelihoods, supports environmental sustainability, educates consumers to make better choices and also makes award-winning chocolate bars!
