Acalli NORANDINO PERU 70 Tumbes. Tumbes is one of Peru’s most famous and established fertile regions. Near the border of Ecuador, they also share together a long history of growing cocoa and cultivating it. Most varieties grown here, particularly the Nacional, is a white bean priced for its delicate and mild chocolate flavor.

The cocoa in this bar represents the combined effort of 123 producers in 6 villages in the Tumbes region: Uña de Gato, Papayal, Cuchareta, La Palma, Casa Blanqueada, and Pampas de Hospital. They all export through the Norandino cooperative.

These producers won a wonderful award at the Cocoa of Excellence Competition in 2015. Their cocoa was one of the best!
The cocoa lends itself perfectly, partly because of the nutty and wonderful chocolate notes, perfect for baking, how about a tasty Mole : ) (yes recipe!!!)

Finally, to El Plantal’s bar there is no cocoa butter added, it melts a little less quickly because of this and the taste lingers a little longer, he annoying he!
