Originating from a microcredit initiative in 2009, Coop-id has grown to 200 farmers. It has become one of the leading suppliers of the unique Ceylon aromatic cocoa that can only be found in small quantities. The farms are located in the center of Sri Lanka in the area of Matale. Agricultural products include cocoa and spices. Everything grows in a mix and creates a beneficial ecosystem.
The cocoa is first fermented for 6 days, usually twisted and dried three times on raised dry beds and using wood-fired ovens.
